ISF Board of Directors Spotlight: Matt Yarmey, Pure Intentions Coffee

Written by Rachel Wood, Director of Marketing

Over the next several weeks we will introduce you to our ISF Board of Directors.  For all of us at ISF,  it is especially important to have a team of board members who are invested in Charlotte and understand the significance and impact of its growth. We want to surround ourselves with people who love this city, this region and want to make it the best there is. We are so proud of this crew and they continue to amaze us with their strong passion to help us succeed, in any way they can.

First up… Meet Matt Yarmey, owner of Pure Intentions Coffee

Matt has been involved with ISF for 2 years and has recently stepped up his role and taken on the position of Co-Chair of the Board.  In addition to giving his valuable time, he never blinks an eye when offering up ways Pure Intentions can help. He considers all of it. Sponsoring an event, donating special edition blends for donor appreciation and even underwriting some marketing costs, which can be tough for nonprofits to cover.  Matt consistently looks for creative ways to help ISF be successful. Not to mention his honest advice and leadership.

“Pediatric Cancer takes children from this world before they even have a chance to figure out what it’s all about. Everyone who is able should do something with their time on this planet to help those robbed of that luxury, whether it’s creating more comfort now or fighting for a world where the cause for that support has been cured. I am honored to be a part of an organization that addresses the support needs of families today, while fighting for a future where no more families will ever have those needs again.

Charlotte is like a large family; we have our ups and downs, but we always come back to center. We are a scrappy community that fights for what we believe in, and I am not surprised in the slightest that an organization of problem solvers, passionate warriors, and cancer-cure-searchers started and is finding such great support here. Charlotte is a community where anything is possible – even finding a cure for rare pediatric cancers.”

As a child Matt dreamed of being an explorer when he grew up. He told us he was always building model rockets and taking his bike to the “far corners” of his neighborhood to see what he could find! This example of his adventurous spirit is why we want to see kids have the opportunity to explore all possibilities life has to offer. Pediatric cancer unfortunately steals these dreams from kids. Matt knows just how important our mission is…  To Beat Cancer, To Grow Hair and for kids to be able to Live Their Dreams. We are extremely grateful he’s helping to make that happen.

Pure Intentions can be found  in more than 60 retail locations, including grocery stores, restaurants, bars and markets. Matt and his business are doing so much to help kids fight cancer and it gives us (and hopefully you) plenty of reasons to want to support him back.
