Sustaining Partner JE Dunn Construction Shares Why Helping ISF and the Community is so Important in the Fight Against Pediatric Cancer

Written by Sustaining Sponsor, JE Dunn Construction

Since our founding in 1924, JE Dunn Construction has built a solid reputation of giving back to our communities, donating a minimum of 10 percent of our pre-tax earnings annually to support the missions of organizations like the Isabella Santos Foundation.

JE Dunn and our employee-owners are continually grateful for the opportunity to invest our time, talent, and resources to serve Isabella Santos Foundation’s mission to help kids fighting cancer BEAT Cancer, GROW Hair, and LIVE Their Dreams.

Isabella Santos Foundation was a beneficiary of JE Dunn’s 2019 Charity Poker Tournament

At JE Dunn, our purpose is to “enrich lives through inspired people and places” and we are driven by our guiding principles centered around our employees, communities, and clients. We are builders at heart, and this is one small way we can give back. Along with volunteer efforts and monetary contributions, JE Dunn is grateful to have built spaces that further the missions of local entities including Isabella Santos Foundation (ISF), Atrium Health Foundation, Levine Children’s Hospital, Carolina Breast Friends (CBF), Classroom Central, Roof Above, and United Way, continuing these partnerships long after the project is complete.

Isabella Santos Foundation MIBG Therapy Suite

In conjunction with our team’s support of the lifesaving work of Isabella Santos Foundation and Atrium Health, JE Dunn has been entrusted to complete multiple construction projects in some of the most sensitive areas at Levine Children’s Hospital (LCH) since 2018, when we completed the Isabella Santos Foundation MIBG Therapy Suite.

Throughout construction, members of our team were personally touched by Isabella’s story and as one testament to this, our project superintendent Jerry Tatum handcrafted a wooden case now used to display a commemorative donor-signed lead brick.

To prevent the spread of radiation to surrounding rooms, the ISF MIBG Therapy Suite was lined with 10 tons of lead bricks.

Since then, JE Dunn has continued our work at Levine Children’s Hospital, including projects made possible by Isabella Santos Foundation, like the Sholler Pediatric Oncology Research Laboratory.

We were also honored to complete projects like the LCH HEARTest Yard Congenital Heart Center, the LCH Emergency Department renovation, and the LCH Bone Marrow Transplant and Cellular Therapies unit expansion, providing in-kind support for the Speedway Children’s Charities Infusion Suite within that unit. JE Dunn is currently renovating the Maternity Center at Carolinas Medical Center.

JE Dunn Construction is proud of the partnership we have built with Isabella Santos Foundation and the impact they are making on the lives of children fighting cancer and we look forward to continuing this relationship for years to come.
