Hattie’s Heroes, Changing the World For Kids With Cancer

“When Hattie’s Heroes learned only 4% of research funding is allocated to pediatric cancer, we knew Mom would want to help. We won’t stop until all cancer is eradicated!” -Renee Spero

Hattie’s Heroes was started by Renee Spero in memory of her mother who sadly passed away at the age of 52. Cancer has forever impacted her life like so many others, but she is using this loss to fuel hope for others. For kids that deserve better outcomes.

Renee describes her mom as someone who was a very selfless individual. She always put those she loved first, even above herself. “All of the signs were there but she didn’t put herself first. With the amount of cancer research that’s been done, we’ve made significant progress on the breast cancer side. I believe she would be alive today.” -Renee Spero

Each year in honor of Hattie’s birthday, Renee and Hattie’s Heroes supporters come up with ideas to help others and spread hope. They have been raising money ever since Hattie passed, and have been searching for ways to locally impact cancer fighters. We were so fortunate that Renee was able to join us at our Women’s Breakfast Event back in March. Her and her lovely table of Hattie’s Heroes ladies could not believe that only 4% of cancer research goes towards pediatrics. Upon learning this, and hearing about Isabella’s incredible story, they knew they wanted to help our mission.

Renee and Hattie’s Heroes know precisely the importance of giving cancer fighters better outcomes. We are thrilled to have them as part of our ‘Change the World’ fundraising campaign. They have joined our 15th Anniversary Race as Team Hattie’s Heroes and currently have raised $3,283.

We hope you feel inspired to help us change the world for pediatric cancer patients and their families. Donate today. Your donation benefits the ISF Rare & Solid Tumor Program at Levine Children’s, a global program for kids battling rare cancers.
