Behind The Series

Written by Rachel Wood, Director of Marketing

I accompanied Erin and Isabella several times to New York for treatments/scans at Memorial Sloan Kettering.  I watched Isabella endure awful treatments. I watched them being told there were no other options.  I watched and I was horrified.

These NYC trips forever changed me. I would fly back home to my family. Hug my healthy kids.  I don’t have a child with cancer. But I watched it. I watched what it does, the pain it causes and the devastating ripples it sends through lives. My eyes have been open to childhood cancer ever since.

Not everyone has a front row seat to the impacts of childhood cancer. I hope you are never given one. But that was my goal of the ‘Through My Eyes’ series when we launched it last year, to help others open eyes, even a little bit, to what pediatric cancer is doing to kids, young adults and families. We were blown away to raise over $25,000 for pediatric cancer through this series.  Let’s reach further!

  • Over 15,000 kids will be diagnosed with cancer this year
  • 46 kids will be diagnosed by the end of today
  • 4 of those will die
  • 1 in 285 of you reading this right now will have a child diagnosed
  • 5 of those will die

Follow ISF as we pull back the curtain through September and view childhood cancer through the eyes of those who live it day to day.  We promise they will inspire you. We promise they will inspire you. Presented by Atrium Health Levine Children’s, “Through My Eyes” series will bring you the perspectives of:

  • Cancer parents who have faced the unimaginable and remain hopeful
  • A teenage girl just diagnosed with cancer
  • A young adult male survivor going after his dreams
  • Pediatric oncologist & staff  invested in bringing change to childhood cancer
  • A Grandmother watching her own daughter fight for her child’s life.

Our goal is to raise $50,000 for pediatric cancer research in the month of September. Yes, that’s big! We hope you will join us in reaching this goal.  Start a facebook fundraiser in honor of a child you know fighting cancer, talk about the stories and share our content this month. Make your financial gift a monthly recurring donation, to strengthen your impact to keep giving all year long!  It will take all of us raising awareness to bring true change.

Enhance your impact by GIVING MONTHLY.  Be part of something ongoing and make a difference… Every. Single. Month.  This helps sustain our efforts, longterm… just a little at a time without financial burden on you.
