Happy Monday to you all!
For those of you who are Moms out there, I hope you had a wonderful Mother’s Day and enjoyed spending time with your family. Personally, I really looked forward to Mother’s Day this year because last year I spent the day on the bathroom floor with a sickness that was like nothing I have ever seen. So, this year I took it upon myself to run the day and booked a lovely brunch with our extended family (we have a lot of Moms over here), an afternoon at TopGolf, and tickets to see Hamilton with Grant and Sophia. I’m kind of tough to plan and buy for so I prefer to take the day over. 🙂 Staying busy is clutch for me because Isabella tends to cross my mind often during the day. But when you lose a child, your goal becomes making sure your other kids don’t feel like the day becomes about the one you lost, instead of the ones you have. But believe me when I say, she is there – and her voice is strong on this day.
Okay, no tears. Moving right along.
I feel like I always say “Here at ISF we are busier than ever!”. But we really are! In the last 30 days, we received 2 monster donations that we will tell you about in the next few weeks that will enable us to do more things we never thought were possible. Stay tuned for those announcements as we thank two incredible organizations. We also just returned from Columbus, Ohio as we wrapped up our Golf for a Cure, Ohio Edition. There are about 20 gorgeous days in Ohio and we hit one of them last Monday. The weather was beautiful and the day could not have been better. Due to the success of the event, we will be donating $20,000 to Nationwide Children’s Hospital to help support a Ewings Sarcoma pediatric cancer trial. You can read more here. Thank you to all of you who helped make this day a success!
Speaking of Golf… our Charlotte golf tournament is right around the corner. I have to say, I ended up having a blast at this tournament last year because the golfers were all so excited and wonderful. This year, we anticipate the course to be packed with lots of Noda Beer flowing…making for tons of laughs. Last year was a sell-out and this year will be no different. So if you want to get involved, I would pounce soon! Details are below.
I’m also excited to announce our team is growing once again as our 6th full-time team member starts this month. Many of you have heard of Ashton Barlow and her story within ISF. She was one of our inaugural interns when COVID hit 2 years ago and she blew us away, ultimately winning the program with her fundraising and creativity. The following year she came back as our Intern Lead and guided the new class to our most successful fundraising year to date. As we continue to grow, we know our needs surrounding development need more dedication. Ashton is the perfect candidate to come in and help organize and support ISF through our donor development, Three Wish Society, and more. I’m thrilled to have her alongside our team, as we start to tailor your experience at ISF in the next few years. She is about to learn about how wonderful and generous our donor base has become so I’m thrilled to have her get to know you all. I know she is going to be great! Her first task is helping to implement our intern program which starts June 1st…so we have lots to do!
Of course, we are still working behind the scenes on our 15-year anniversary race, Our 3rd Annual Gala, many other various events and maybe trying to get a wedding planned. Yikes! July 14th is our official wedding date and the excitement is building like crazy! A wedding at 45… What a year we have ahead of us! I’m excited to have you all along for the ride for this personal adventure and all the other special things we have in store to celebrate our 15th year of ISF.
