Isabella Santos Foundation Black & White Bowtie Ball Raises $260,000 for Pediatric Cancer

Sustaining Sponsor: Atrium Health Levine Children’s

We were thrilled to get dressed up to celebrate the Foundation’s 15th Anniversary with the Black & White Bowtie Ball on November 12 at Ballantyne Hotel.  Through the support of all our guests, sponsors, and auction bidders (near and far), we are elated to announce that the evening raised $260,000 for rare pediatric cancers.

It was a beautiful night honoring those we have lost to childhood cancer, but also celebrating those who we continue to fight for. Special thank you to Jason Harper, Queen City News Morning Anchor, for leading the evening as our event emcee.  The evening ended with a surprise magical moment when several generous Angel Donors helped make a cancer warrior’s dream come true… the dream of a puppy!  Gracie, 9 years old, was diagnosed with a rare sarcoma on August 1, 2022.  Although Gracie was able to be in attendance due to treatment, her parents were with us for the evening and face timed her with the news.  Gracie was beyond ecstatic and she welcomed her new puppy, Millie Potato Sage, the following Monday.  Thank you to Crockett Doodles for helping us make this possible!

Proceeds from the evening will benefit the Isabella Santos Foundation Rare & Solid Tumor Program at Atrium Health Levine Children’s.  This program established in 2020, provides the most comprehensive care and treatments for pediatric cancer in our community and globally.  ISF has donated more than $6 million to its mission over the past fourteen years which has been carried out both locally and nationally.

Why the focus on rare cancers? Isabella fought cancer for 5 years and ran out of treatment options. This is the case for so many other kids who are diagnosed with rare cancers. Childhood cancer is not just one disease. It is made up of 12 major types & over 100 subtypes and rare cancers fall into the category with little to no funding. It’s up to private foundations like ISF to raise funds for research and programs.

Thank you to everyone who attended, sponsored, donated, and supported.  It was a beautiful evening filled with love, abundant generosity, and true inspiration from so many in attendance.
