Fighting Pediatric Cancer One Drop at a Time

Witnessing life pouring back into a child after receiving a transfusion to help them recover from a brutal round of chemotherapy is powerful. A child smiling and hoping again adds meaning and purpose to what we do. At OneBlood, we work diligently around the clock to ensure every patient who needs a blood, platelet, or plasma transfusion quickly receives these quality products.

We operate in the Southeast United States. We have over 200 Big Red Busses on the road every day and 90 Donor Centers, including the Isabella Santos Foundation Donor Center located in Charlotte, North Carolina. Having a donor center in Ballantyne makes it easily accessible for donors to give blood and platelets in honor of patients in their local community, while also showing support for the ISF organization.

OneBlood is partnered with the Isabella Santos Foundation to help amplify the important message of blood, platelet, and plasma donations to help children fighting cancer. Together, we host blood drives throughout the local community to help ensure a ready blood supply for current pediatric patients and honor children who have passed away.

Last year, we partnered with Team Madison to host a blood drive for sweet Madison, who was diagnosed with osteosarcoma at the age of six. Every appointment slot was booked and there was an outpouring of support from the local community. Although Madison is no longer with us, her fighting spirit and resilience are carried on in each blood drive.

This year, we also had the pleasure of helping community hero, Shawn Flynn, meet his goal of hosting 30 blood drives in 30 days for Childhood Cancer Awareness Month. Shawn not only met his goal, but he exceeded it by booking 38 blood drives!

Fighting pediatric cancer is a tough journey, but through commitment and collaboration, OneBlood and the Isabella Santos Foundation work together to make it a little easier for children and families – one drop at a time.
