Charlotte nonprofit launches funding initiative to back pediatric cancer care

The Isabella Santos Foundation is expanding its reach across Charlotte, the Carolinas and the country through a new funding initiative.

The Charlotte-based foundation, a nonprofit dedicated to raising awareness and money for rare pediatric cancer research and care, has launched the TORCH (Transformational Outcomes for Rare Cancer Heroes) Initiative. Erin Santos, ISF president and founder, said the program is designed to accelerate the advancement of basic science, clinical trials and survivorship programs for rare pediatric cancer patients.

Santos said with the foundation wrapping up a long-term, $5 million commitment to Atrium Health Levine Children’s Hospital, she wanted to turn her attention to helping other health-care organizations in a similar way.
