ISF Supporter Uses Facebook to Fundraise for Childhood Cancer
Our supporters blow us away every single day. Meet Amadea and Phillip Dodds. June is their birthday month and they chose to celebrate by fundraising for ISF and childhood cancer! They created a goal to walk/jog 100km for the month of June (that’s just a little over 62 miles) and started their #100kmForTheCure on June 1st. What started out as a simple fundraiser asking for pledges, turned into a Facebook Fundraiser raising $800 this month!
“What makes me smile more is the fact that the donations came from all over the world! I am from the Philippines and Philip is from the UK – and the donations have come from the Philippines, the UK, Japan, Australia, and the US. It means a lot to us to be able to share our blessings to others, so this really is the best gift our family and friends could have given us!” -Amadea
And they did it, on June 28th they completed their #100kmForTheCure! To top it off, Amadea and Phillip also joined our monthly donor club in honor of Isabella’s on that same day. We are thankful for the generosity of not only their friends and family from all over the world but super thankful to have Amadea and Phillip as part of the ISF family!
Facebook fundraisers are super simple and an easy way to reach family and friends everywhere! Set up your fundraiser here in a few simple steps:

We have learned of The Isabella Santos Foundation in May of 2012. Our son, Jack, was in Room 218 class in Calvary with Grant. We got an email saying how the class can help the Santos family as they go through such a tough time. I remember seeing a post (pretty sure it was in Facebook) about their trip to Disney World and reading Erin’s words – so raw and real – knowing IB’s life is nearing its end, was just heartbreaking. I remember seeing her post about their trip to the beach after Isabella passed away and how her kids would tell strangers they meet that they have a sister who just went to heaven. I remember she wrote about the day Isabella passed away. I am in awe of Erin’s strength, how she is able to keep on going, especially with the foundation, to help other families/parents not go through what she has been through.
Through the ISF Facebook page, I learn of cancer families and their journeys. I read about each family’s heartbreak and success stories. I find myself in tears every time I read their updates, either tears of joy or sadness, and I say a prayer.
We have decided to support the ISF in little ways that we can – participating in the 5k/mile run and sending donations. And for our birthdays this year, Philip and I have decided to create a fundraiser for the ISF, with a hashtag #100kmForTheCure since our goal is to walk 100km for the month of June.
I posted about it on Facebook on June 1st, thinking we will only be collecting pledges at that time. But we have been getting messages from family and friends saying “Is there a link?” So I posted the link on FB and within a day, we had more than $500 donated! We raised the goal to $750 and ) we have already surpassed that goals well! I am so so so proud of our tribe for their generous hearts and for their support. What makes me smile more is the fact that the donations came from all over the world! I am from the Philippines and Philip is from the UK – and the donations have come from the Philippines, the UK, Japan, Australia, and the US. It means a lot to us to be able to share our blessings to others, so this really is the best gift our family and friends could have given us!
To The Isabella Santos Foundation, thank you so so much for everything that you do and for giving us the opportunity to give back to our community! Sending your organization lots of love!
