About Isabella Santos Foundation
The Isabella Santos Foundation (ISF) was established through Isabella’s parents to raise awareness and research funds for Neuroblastoma and received its 501(c)(3) status in 2009. It was Isabella’s dream to Beat Cancer, Grow Hair, and Live Her Dreams. Although research and advanced treatments didn’t come in time for her dreams to come true, her legacy is pushing us to give others a fighting chance against rare pediatric cancer. Learn more about ISF at www.isabellasantosfoundation.org.
Last year our Summer Intern Class was an integral part in helping us make 2020 a historic year for ISF, as we gave away just over $1 Million to support our mission. A different kind of internship where you work in teams to creatively compete, fundraise and have fun all to make a difference for kids fighting cancer. Although this is a primarily remote position, there will be opportunities for team meetings as restrictions as ease up.
[/av_textblock]“Working as a Lead Intern taught me valuable leadership skills. I have held leadership roles in clubs and organizations in the past, but I had never led an entire team before. One of the most important things I learned was the importance of getting to know your team to understand everyone’s individual strengths and interests. On our team, for example, some people were interested in design and creating graphics, so they created a lot of the social media content for our team and helped run our Instagram account. Others liked interacting with people, so they were the ones who focused on sponsor outreach. As a leader, it is important to take this into consideration and create an environment where everyone can do work that is tailored towards their interests and skills, and where everyone’s ideas are valued and utilized. When this is the case, the whole experience is more meaningful and exciting for everyone.” -Emily Mecia, 2020 Lead Intern (UNC Chapel Hill)
