Donate Blood to Honor Isabella and Kids Fighting Rare Pediatric Cancer

Building a Brighter Future Together

Today on June 14th, we commemorate World Blood Donor Day, a global observance that serves to raise awareness about the importance of blood donation and express gratitude to voluntary blood donors worldwide. It is a day to recognize the tremendous impact that blood and platelet donations have in saving lives and improving the health outcomes of patients in need.

This summer, OneBlood and the Isabella Santos Foundation are joining forces once again to commemorate the memory of Isabella Santos and make a positive impact on the lives of children battling cancer. Isabella, a courageous warrior, fought against neuroblastoma, a rare pediatric cancer, for five years before her passing on June 28, 2012. As we mark the anniversary of her departure, we invite you to be part of this meaningful initiative.

Throughout Isabella’s treatment, she relied on multiple blood and platelet transfusions to aid her recovery. In the battle against cancer, these donations play a vital role. Pediatric cancer treatments often involve aggressive procedures, necessitating frequent transfusions of blood and platelets to support young patients on their journey to recovery.

Calling All Heroes: Stand Up Against Childhood Cancer!

Join us from June 24 to June 26 at the Charlotte Donor Center or the Isabella Santos Ballantyne Donor Center and become a hero by donating platelets or blood. It’s a simple yet impactful way to contribute to the cause and share your power! As a thank you for saving lives, all donors will receive a $20 eGift Card and a OneBlood Water Bottle! Plus, for every confirmed donation, OneBlood will contribute $10 to the Isabella Santos Foundation.

Your donations go a long way in supporting the Isabella Santos Foundation’s endeavors. They enable investments in pediatric cancer research, advancements in cancer trials and studies, and provide support to families affected by this devastating disease. By contributing, you help fulfill Isabella’s three heartfelt wishes: to BEAT Cancer, GROW Hair, and LIVE Her Dreams.

Platelet donations are a powerful way to make a difference. You can donate platelets every seven days, up to 24 times a year. These donations employ an automated process known as apheresis, which allows us to collect specific components of your blood at a larger volume. Through a single automated platelet donation, one or more complete platelet doses can be produced for a patient—a feat that would typically require the combined contribution of six to eight whole blood donors.

Take Action Now!

We invite you to visit our participating Donor Center locations and schedule your appointment to donate blood or platelets. Together, we can create a brighter future for children battling cancer.
