Walking into STIR Charlotte feels like taking a breath of fresh air.

With its open-air concept, the 6,100-square-foot space brightens from the natural light filtering through clear windows along the wall. But the clear panes are more than windows — along the front of the restaurant, garage doors open to blur the line between indoor and outdoor.

STIR Charlotte’s grand opening is set for July 20, and proceeds from the opening events will benefit the Isabella Santos Foundation, a local nonprofit that raises money and awareness for rare pediatric cancer research.

The grand opening event is just the beginning for STIR’s partnership with ISF. Through the month of August, for every Austin Mule cocktail sold, STIR will donate $2.

#FeelGoodFriday: Pure Intentions Coffee Helps Keep Hospital Staff Energized During Pandemic

Our city is full of the best people and best businesses. Every day we learn of something spectacular that our volunteers, supporters, sponsors, and partners are doing during this crazy time and gives us hope. Every Friday, we will spotlight something spectacular around us. We hope it will brighten your day too!

Today’s #FeelGoodFriday shout out goes to our friends at Pure Intentions Coffee for collaborating with a neighboring local business to support front-line hospital workers. When Le’s Banh Mi Sandwich Shop approached Pure Intentions Coffee with the idea of purchasing cases of their Cold Brew for front-line hospital staff, Pure Intentions matched their donation. Pure Intentions Cold Brew is similar to your favorite iced coffee (but clean with no diary, sweeteners or preservatives) and we loved to see some of this pure energy also donated to Levine Children’s pediatric oncology floor staff!

“There are many healthcare workers impacted both directly and indirectly by the current health crisis, so when local Charlotte business Le’s Banh Mi wanted to show support, we decided to share the love between hospital staff dealing directly with COVID-19 treatment as well as our friends at Levine Children’s Hospital who are doing everything in their power to keep the kids in their care safe. Whatever impact we may experience as part of the general public, we will never know the dedication required to care for individuals battling an already brutal situation in the midst of a one-in-a-lifetime crisis. Donating coffee is only a small token of our appreciation for what those people are doing.”

These two local businesses have been hit hard during the pandemic, we love they are still out supporting the Charlotte community. We hope you will support them too. Thank you Pure Intentions Coffee for supporting ISF with every event and twist and turn…. and supporting those who take care of our ISF kids! We are super grateful to have you as loyal partners!

Sweet’s Elderberry Donates $8,000 to Pediatric Cancer Research

Most families we know fighting cancer swear by Sweet’s Elderberry Syrup. Not only do we love their product, we love what they stand for in our community. During the month of March, Sweets Syrup celebrated their 4th birthday with Sweetsgiving, their annual campaign to give back to the community. During the first week of March, the Sweets team committed to donating 20% of their sales of Sweet’s Elderberry Syrup to ISF.

“I had hoped and prayed for a big week, and little did I know we would have OUR BIGGEST WEEK EVER!! 🙌🙌🙌Sweet’s Syrup is donating $8704 to the Isabella Santos Foundation to help fight pediatric cancer – a cause I support with all my heart. I can honestly say that in my four years in business, this is the pinnacle for me, the BEST. And thank you all for making it happen!!”

In early 2018, Sweet’s Syrup began donating organic elderberry syrup to nurses in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit at Levine Children’s. Soon, this expanded to include the Pediatric Critical Care and Pediatric Oncology units. The little patients in these wards must be protected from infection, so it’s important that their caregivers have strong immune systems and come to work healthy.

Sweet’s also provides 16-ounce bottles syrup to several families dealing with cancer, with the goal of helping them stay healthy during their child’s treatment. Qualifying families can DM Sweet’s via Facebook or Instagram. Those in the Charlotte area will be given a location to pick up syrup. If you live elsewhere, you’ll receive a special code to get a free bottle at www.sweetssyrup.com. Simply pay for shipping.
